Group therapy allows people to receive the support and encouragement of the other members of the group. People participating in the group can see that others are going through the same thing, which can help them feel less alone. The setting allows people to practice behaviors and actions within the safety and security of the group. All while having the support and guidance of a licensed professional.
Psychoeducational sessions allow you to ask questions and learn more about a topic from an experienced clinician. These are usually one time events; which is different then ongoing group therapy or support groups. However, just like group therapy, these are supportive and safe places to ask questions and to learn more. These are great spaces to gain a better understanding without having to worry about being embarrassed for not knowing.
